This Ganesha sculpture is a faithful replica of an early medieval idol dated to 800–900 AD, originating in Central Java and now preserved at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco. The form reflects a distinctive Southeast Asian interpretation of Ganesha shaped by early Indic temple traditions.
Softened contours, natural erosion, and subtle asymmetry are intentionally preserved, honouring the passage of time. Finished in a rustic ancient stone tone, the resin and rock composite evokes the quiet dignity and presence of an excavated temple relic.
