Mayavie Sculptures

The Artist Behind Mayavie

Dr. Ketan Naik

Orthodontist · Sculpture Artist · Custodian of an ancient tradition

The Bio

For Dr. Ketan, every sculpture is an attempt to continue a lineage of craftsmanship through which stone was once transformed into emotion, divinity, and memory.

Every Mayavie sculpture begins with a temple. A specific alcove. A specific century. Each form is studied in detail: its iconographic grammar, rhythm, balance, expression, and proportion. Dr. Ketan then recreates it — not as a replica, but as a continuation of the tradition itself, preserving the spirit of the original while allowing it to inhabit contemporary life once again.

The precision that defines his work in dentistry — the understanding of structure, depth, symmetry, and the delicate balance between science and art — is the same sensibility that shapes every sculpture that leaves his studio.

His sculptures have been presented through a series of exhibitions, including showcases at the renowned Nehru Centre Art Gallery and the historic The Taj Mahal Palace in Colaba, Mumbai. His work has also earned him the distinction of being a three-time recipient of the Best Ganpati Idol recognition presented by Ganpati.tv. Alongside his studio practice, he has conducted workshops devoted to classical Indian sculptural traditions, sharing both technique and philosophy with collectors, students, and aspiring artists alike.

For Dr. Ketan, these forms are not relics of the past. They are living inheritances — embodiments of memory, craftsmanship, and devotion that once belonged as much to homes and daily life as they did to temples. Through Mayavie, he seeks to restore that lost intimacy, allowing ancient forms to once again exist not as distant artefacts, but as presences woven into everyday homes.
